About the Forehead Lift Procedure
A forehead lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin from the forehead; the result is a smoother, more youthful appearance to a patient’s brow. If you have lines, creases or a sagging brow, you might be a candidate for a forehead lift. Forehead lifts also include elimination of the corugator muscle which gives the vertical lines between the eyebrows causing you to have an unhappy or scowling look. Forehead lifts, also referred to as brow lifts, can help to give you long term results for a more youthful appearance. Because this is a surgical procedure, your medical history will be taken during your initial consultation to ensure that you are a good candidate for a forehead lift.
How Forehead Lifts Work
Dr. Schlesinger will have a consultation with you to discuss your expectations from forehead lift surgery. This consultation will help him to determine the type of procedure which is best for you. There are two types of forehead lift: corneal brow lift and endoscopic. The procedure you untertake will be based upon your particular needs. The more extensive your sagging, the more likely you will undergo a corneal brow lift.
During the forehead lift surgery, you will be sedated. Then the doctor will perform the procedure within your existing hair, therefore no visible scar will remain after the procedure. The corneal brow lift will remove extra skin which causes your sagging, deep lines and creases. The most important part of the forehead lift is the elimination of the corugator muscle (which causes frown lines) and the replacement of that area with tissue; this important component returns the youthful fullness you had between the eyes when you were young.
Forehead Lift: What Can I Expect?
When you undergo a forehead lift in any of our Hawaii facilities, you can expect long term results. Plan to take 5 – 10 days from work to give yourself time to heal from the procedure. The recovery time for a forehead lift is shorter than a face lift unless you couple a forehead lift with other procedures such as an eyelid lift or a face lift. Once you have healed, your results will last longer than non-surgical techniques used to treat forehead or brow lines.
