Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction | Hawaii Maui Hilo Kona Honolulu

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure designed to alleviate the emotional and physical pain brought on by breasts that are too large. Large breasts can become a burden and can pull on the muscles and tissues of the back, neck, and shoulders. This pulling can result in persistent aches and pains. Many women with large breasts are self conscious about their breasts, and their emotional health can be affected. If you are considering this procedure, discuss breast reduction with Dr. Schlesinger. He will help you to determine if you are a good candidate for the reduction procedure.

Since it is a surgical procedure, you need to carefully weigh your decision to have breast reduction. You will be administered a sedative prior to the procedure. Dr. Schlesinger will make incisions through which he will remove excess breast tissue and fat. In some cases, your nipples will be repositioned so that they sit in a normal location on your newer, smaller breasts. Discuss with Dr. Schlesniger any questions you have about the procedure during your free initial consultation.

Dr. Schlesinger might recommend that you opt for a liposuction breast reduction. Like traditional liposuction, this procedure inserts a tube into each of your breasts and excess fat and breast tissue will be drawn out through this tube. This alternate procedure offers a faster recovery time with less scarring, but it is not for everyone. Dr. Schlesinger will be able to determine if you qualify for this procedure.

What to Expect From a Breast Reduction

You will notice soon after the surgery that your results are visible. Your breasts will be lighter and be smaller than before you had the breast reduction.
